Transfer credit for first-year applicants

Beloit College will apply up to 15 units of transfer credit from dual enrollment courses taken at accredited colleges and universities toward a student’s degree. Transfer credits will be applied towards the 31 total Beloit units required for graduation and may be used to satisfy some general education and major-specific requirements. 1 Beloit unit equals 4 semester hours or 6 quarter hours.

Beloit will award up up to 8 units of transfer credit for qualifying AP, IB or GCE A-level exam results. These credits will be applied towards the 31 total Beloit units required for graduation but cannot be used to satisfy general education requirements. They may be used to satisfy some major-specific requirements at departmental discretion. Each qualifying exam result equals 1 Beloit unit.

Qualifying scores include:

• AP exam scores of 4 and 5.
• IB higher level exam scores of 4-7 and standard level exam scores of 6 and 7.
• GCE A-level passing grades of A, B, or C.

Students who have completed their high school education or equivalent, have enrolled at a college or university, and have received or will receive credit by the time of their matriculation, should apply to Beloit as transfer applicants.

Dual enrollment programs for local students

Beloit College offers opportunities for local high school students interested in academic opportunities beyond what is offered at their high schools.

Students can benefit by studying subject areas not often taught at the high school level, as well as learning what to expect from a rigorous college-level class. In turn, Beloit College welcomes the diverse experiences and perspectives that local students bring to the classroom, which further enriches the learning experience for all of our degree and non-degree seeking students.

Porter Scholars

High school juniors in the top 10% of their class and from partner high schools are identified by their high school counselors to apply for this program. Students selected as Porter Scholars have the opportunity to take one tuition-free course at Beloit College, each semester during their senior year.

Early College Credit

Beloit College participates in the Wisconsin Early College Credit Program, governed by statute 118.55. The statute allows Wisconsin public and private high school students to take one or more courses at an institution of higher education for high school and/or college credit.
